They have been entertaining kids and parents alike since 1949. Simple colors and simple shapes that interlock to create myriad distinctive and entertaining designs. Yes, LEGO bricks are part of our collective world wide culture and of course, our childhoods. There have been LEGOLAND amusement parks around for a while, but LEGO’s newest adventure, LEGOLAND Discovery Center is a relatively new and unique endeavor that recently found its way to Schaumberg, Illinois. A suburb of Chicago, Schaumberg is a surprisingly bustling little town that fits perfectly with this family friendly destination. Unlike the amusement parks, LEGOLAND Discovery Center is highly educational and meant to be more of a hands on experience, geared to parents and families with children ages 3 to 12.
Currently the only LEGOLAND Discovery Center in the United States, this is certainly a great way to share with your little ones all the joy and amazement that can be made out of a little square block. And it’s not just building with LEGOs, you can even see how they build the LEGOs themselves! The Factory Tour exhibit shows the step by step process that turns raw materials into one of the most versatile toys in the world. And to top it off, you even get to take home your very own LEGO factory brick as a souvenir. Check out action packed 4D LEGO movies that bring you right into the adventure as both you and the characters experience snow, wind, and even lightning flying around the theatre. The Princess Palace lets your little princess create her own special castle, garden, or perhaps a fairy play land. That’s the beauty of LEGOs, you are limited only by your imagination. Speaking of imagination, imagine climbing into the belly of a huge dragon and taking a ride through the magical LEGO kingdom. The Dragon Quest ride is great for children looking for a few twists and turns in their voyage.
Uh oh, watch out for that giant spider! There are giant spiders and all sorts of other crazy wild animals waiting to greet and surprise you in LEGOLAND Discovery Center’s Jungle Adventure. Perhaps there will even be a treasure or two in store. Kids getting a bit antsy? Well why not take them over to the Physical Play area so they can jump, clamber, swing and play amidst LEGO themed climbing walls, jungle gyms, and more. Adults need a bit of a break? Take everyone over to the Discovery Center Café where there are plenty of yummies to eat and drink. If you have a large party, rent out one of the birthday rooms where the helpful staff will be happy to cater your event. Parties (like the LEGOs) are build your own and you can pick from lots of fun stuff like goodie bags, pizza, hot dogs, exclusive master builder classes (with an option to keep your creation), plus everyone gets birthday cake, and unlimited free soda. There are lots of kid-centric entertainment venues, but few can boast being as educational and fun as LEGOLAND Discovery Center. So step on up to one of the best times you and your kids have ever had, at the LEGOLAND Discovery Center. Visit their website for more ticket information.
