Honestly, the first thing you’ll notice when you get there is the outrageously good service. Everyone from the maître d’ to the busboys to the wait staff is endlessly hospitable. If you’ve been there before, you’ll notice that the menu changes seasonally, however serving “Modern American” cuisine you are sure to find something to tempt your palate. Being an independently owned, chef-driven restaurant, the dishes here are lively and unique; each flavor blending and bouncing off the others effortlessly. Because Minnesota weather tends to have a bite in it, take the edge off with a starter of the Lobster bisque with truffled lobster garnish and a sweet potato wonton. Creamy and delicate, this soup is a sure crowd pleaser. Main course calls for the petite beef tenderloin filet served with this amazing layered potato side dish and Brussels sprouts. The perfectly seasoned sauce that accompanies the dish is simply outrageous. If you are a cheese lover (and seriously, who’s not) you’re going to want to get a side order of the cauliflower fritters with cheddar sauce. Melt in your mouth yummy goodness. The wine list is rather extensive for the size of the menu and guarantees you will find something perfect to go with your meal.
But save room, their desserts are to die for. It’s hard to choose between the banana napoleon (the walnuts totally make this one) and the maple glazed pear with ginger ice cream so just get them both and share. You’ll be glad you did. Consistently one of the highest rated restaurants in Minneapolis, Heidi’s is a sure fire hit for any foodie. Quaint décor, great food, fantastic service, Heidi’s Minneapolis can’t be beat.
